You’re probably so ready for spring by now. We’re almost there! Improved weather conditions aside, we can’t wait to try the freshest new looks for the season. Springtime may be our favorite time of the year for makeup. The colors usually get lighter, softer and more feminine. Our foundations and moisturizers lighten up and we’re still not breaking a sweat. Good times!
Spring 2017 is no different. Designers and the top makeup artists around the world have proclaimed what’s gorgeous right now and we’re paying attention. We’re loving so many of the latest eye makeup looks and we can’t wait to recreate them. These are our highlights:
1. Glossy Eyelids
Since everything from chokers to camel colored coats have seen a strong resurgence in fashion, it was just a matter of time until favorites from the 90’s reached our faces! This spring, we’re stepping out with high shine, glossy eyelids. Of course nothing that comes back around is ever reinterpreted exactly the same. You can still go the DIY route by adding a hint of light, non-sticky lip gloss to shadow primped eyes, but expect a wave of eye gloss products to appear on the market.
Wear this look for day using lighter eyeshadow hues and nudes, but feel free to really go for it at night, experimenting with the likes of glossy and smokey eyes.

2. The New 1980’s Vibe
Unless you’ve been hiding away from the world, you’ve noticed the huge 80’s resurgence happening all over the runways. We’re seeing oversized, dramatic shoulder pads to flashy minidresses for night and everything in between. What we do love is that, like its 90’s fashion counterparts, these 80’s comebacks have been adjusted for our decidedly modern needs.
If shoulder pads seem ridiculous to you, a quick peek at the latest collections of the likes of Saint Laurent can do much to change your mind. Thankfully beauty and fashion often evolve right alongside one another so we’ll also be wearing a lot of really fun retro-inspired looks this season. Skip the worst of the decade, instead opting to use its Crayola-like past of brightly colored hues. Have fun with eyeshadow colors that truly pop, finished with well-curled, bold eyelashes. We hope this look will stay around for awhile. Even better, incorporate the colors into your own creations using eyeliner stencils for colorful, multi-hued smokey eyes and other palette-loving looks.

3. Fresh Faces
Well, you’ve heard of the no-makeup, makeup look but now here’s something new: actually not wearing any makeup. Gasp! We’re right there with you. We’re definitely not the types to embrace such a trend, however, we were inspired to come up with our own version of it. We really like the idea of going even more fresh-faced for the spring (and summer) months from time to time. So as diehard eye makeup fans, we’ve pledged to rock this trend sometimes, while keeping our eye makeup in place. Picture a completely makeup-free face except for long lashes, stroked with mascara and thin stripes of timeless eyeliner at the upper lids. It’s a gorgeous look that will give plenty of attention to your eyes. Plus, it’s super practical for time spent in the outdoors. Just remember to go for waterproof eye makeup formulations.

4. Two-Toned Lips
You know that daily battle of choosing today’s lipstick? The fight is over. Okay, it’s over for this season at least. Now you can wear two of your favorite lipsticks at once. Beauty in Spring 2017 will emulate the runways by highlighting lips coated in one color on top and one on the bottom. The trick is to pick two shades that are very similar so that they look like the same hue from a distance. The magic starts when you’re seen from up close and it becomes apparent that you have one tone on the upper lip and another on the bottom. Keep it monochromatic and wear it confidently for a youthful and artistic look.

5. Glitter Makeup
With the mention of the 80’s, we’re not surprised glitter was just around the corner. We’re looking forward to a colorful, bold and exciting spring for beauty and fashion. Glitter was seen all over fashion presentations from designers based around the world and we suspect it will catch on quick with support from some of the world’s top makeup artists. Glitter sparkled proudly from models’ lips and eyes with alluring sophistication or for a youthful and flirty vibe.
We recommend that you always do your eye makeup before you start the rest of your face because it has a tendency to make a mess and then the clean up is where the real work begins. If you don’t follow this time-tested beauty rule, now is the time to start. Glitter has plans of its own and removing stray glitter from your coverup is nothing short of a nightmare. Dramatic but true! Do your glitter eye makeup first, easily removing stray pieces with cotton swabs dipped in eye makeup remover. You’ll thank us later!
